Your story matters here — and so do you.

Welcome, I'm so glad you're here. My name is Michelle Dubiel-Vasquez and the human behind MIVA Counselling.

I support individuals and adolescents navigating anxiety, depression, eating disorders, neurodivergence, chronic stress, trauma, and parenting challenges.

Together, we'll work toward feeling more grounded, finding steadiness again, and moving beyond survival mode into a life that feels calmer and more manageable.

The path that led you here

Offering individual and family counselling in Calgary’s downtown Beltline and virtually across Alberta, using a trauma-informed, somatic approach that supports nervous system regulation. Many of the clients I work with are thoughtful and self-aware, yet still feel stuck in familiar patterns or emotional responses.

You might be here if you’re feeling:

Exhausted or stretched thin

Overwhelmed by anxiety or stress

Caught in perfectionism or constant self-pressure

Stuck in patterns you can’t seem to shift

Struggling with focus or follow-through

Disconnected from your body or emotions

Carrying pain from the past that still shows up

Using substances to cope or numb

Navigating digestive or gut health concerns (IBS)

Facing hormonal/reproductive health challenges

Struggling with your relationship to food or your body

Parenting asks so much of you.

You're carrying your own experiences while holding deep concern for your teen - noticing changes, worrying about what's beneath the surface, and hoping therapy might offer support you can't provide.

You might be here because you are feeling:

Worried about your teen’s mood, behaviour, or motivation

Noticing changes in eating, body image, or relationship with food

Concerned about substance use or risky behaviours

Unsure how to respond to self-harm or suicidal thoughts

Feeling exhausted from carrying everyone else’s emotions

Navigating conflict, big feelings, or long-standing family patterns

Wanting clearer communication and steadier connection at home

This is a space to support your young person - and to support you, too.
