If you’re searching for trauma therapy in Calgary and now your brain is full of acronyms, congrats—you’ve unlocked the “why is this so confusing” level of therapy.

Depiction of healing trauma in our minds.

EMDR: When You’re Ready to Explore What’s Been Carrying Weight

EMDR helps your brain process memories that are still way too emotionally loud. The ones that happened years ago but still show up like they are brand new.

EMDR might be for you if:

  • You like structure and a clear plan

  • You want to understand why certain patterns keep repeating

  • You’re open to feeling feelings (without spiralling)

A lot of clients say EMDR feels like finally closing tabs their brain forgot were open.

ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy): For When You’re Over Talking About It

ART also uses eye movements, but it’s more direct and imagery-based. We skip the endless retelling and focus on changing how the memory actually lives in your brain.

ART might be your vibe if:

  • You want relief without rehashing everything

  • You prefer a more guided, intentional approach

  • You’d like results that don’t take forever

Clients often finish ART sessions saying things like, “Wait… why does that not bother me anymore?”

Okay, But Which One Is Better?

Neither. And also: it depends.

  • Want depth and insight → EMDR

  • Want speed and less talking → ART

  • Want someone to help you decide → well that's where I enter the picture

Because I’m trained in both EMDR and ART, trauma therapy in my Calgary practice isn’t about forcing you into a box—it’s about finding what actually works for you.

There's No Rush Here

Healing doesn’t have to feel overwhelming or rushed.

It can unfold slowly, with care, support, and plenty of grounding along the way.

If you’re in Calgary and curious about EMDR or ART therapy - or about getting to know me a bit more - we can chat and move forward only when it feels right.
